Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, the American and British sitar artist. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the beginning of her career traveling between London and New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an amazing career in music and performance. Her father was with her on numerous occasions for some time. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Alongside performing at all of the largest venues and venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Her career extends beyond the realm of music. She released Bapi the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in movies in 2003. She acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of her time in London and Delhi throughout her childhood. After that, she moved to California for high school. She began learning music at the age nine and played the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi the following year. Her father traveled around the world with her and she was able to gain many new opportunities. While still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. Her artistry and musicianship have been acknowledged by the British parliament as the best at Asian Arts.
